Dyno
2015, 11' x 6' x 5', injection welded industrial plastic debris, LLDPE
This is the first out door sculpture I made using a technique for welding industrial plastic debris. It was from repurposed old broken fish boxes that could not be recycled on the continent. My artist collaborator Marshall Coles and I created Dyno during a month long residency at Kingsbrae Gardens in New Brunswick, Canada. The title "Dyno" can be seen towards the bottom left of the sculpture — it is the name of the company that manufactured these fish boxes which is now defunct. Dyno is a meditation on the dynamic and mutable nature of things. The creation of Dyno was commissioned by Kingsbrae Gardens in New Brunswick, Canada. This piece would not have been made without the generous support of Lucinda Flemer. A very special thank you to the horticultural staff of Kingsbrae Gardens, Lucinda Williams, Geoff Slater, Andrea Mulder-Slater, Jantje Blokhuis-Mulder, and Tim Henderson for their gracious help and support.
