Kuleana

2018, 96” x 60” x 60”, welded plastic marine debris, hardware, LEDs, solar panel

This sculpture was made during a 1 month residency on Oahu. It is comprised of plastic debris collected by Sustainable Coastlines. My artist collaborator and husband Marshall Coles and I worked around the clock at a farm, through a hurricane and multiple setbacks to create this piece by our deadline, with support from the Pu’uhonua Society a very special thank you to Maile Meyer, the Asia Society, The Colby Family, The Mallard Family, Kualoa Ranch, and The Roberts-Conklin Family for their gracious support.
